Role Overview:

Trellix is looking for Information Developer with a passion for turning complex technical concepts into concise, understandable, and complete customer-facing documentation.Professionally competent in most areas relating to the job, you’ll be a customer-focused individual who has the confidence to run medium to large product documentation projects while developing the ability to work on one or

more projects and initiatives at the same time. You may work alone or as part of a writing team and possibly in a project lead capacity. You will be able to accept and adapt to constructive criticism, critically and objectively self evaluate, accept responsibility for both successes and failures, and understand Trellix values and how they apply to your day-to-day responsibilities.

About the Role:

Content Creation

  • Demonstrates clear technical writing skills, including task orientation & minimalism, and seeks out document improvements.

  • Proficient in the use of all aspects of the authoring tools, including the application of single sourcing techniques where necessary. Provides guidance to others.

  • Ensures consistent use of styles and techniques across the documentation set, provides peer reviews, and works with the editor to understand the approach for new content.

  • Uses personas to target audience and build effective structures. Works with UX and customer facing SMEs to provide content that supports their designs and user goals. Provides input to UI text.

  • Understands visual effectiveness in design practices

Process knowledge

  • Conforms and contributes to Information Development process and quality standards.

  • Conforms to the engineering lifecycle process

Analytics

  • Understands and responds to usage data.

Customer Focus

  • Tracks and resolves documentation issues raised through Customer Feedback reports. May coordinate the activities of others.

Project scope

  • Contributes to InfoDev initiatives and manages product documentation projects from business commit to release.

Project management

  • Participates in the Agile development lifecycle, attends standups, and contributes to planning and retrospective meetings.

  • Provides input on commit and readiness decks and may represent InfoDev at readiness meetings.

  • Prioritizes against strategy & time management skills to deliver projects when required. Triages late-breaking requests for the current release to accept, defer or reject.

  • Adds InfoDev user stories and story tasks and uses the tools to understand release scope and requirements.

  • Creates and maintains documentation plans for all assigned projects, identifies risks, and communicates key dates.

Collaboration

  • Works with development, program management, product management, support, and localization to plan and release product.

  • Ability to create and maintain relationships with customer-facing SMEs, such as Sales Engineers, to stay focused on customer needs.

  • May participate in customer-facing programs. Can interview internal and external customers to ensure new content provides highest value and satisfies their needs. Fixes customer escalations when necessary.

About You :

  • Understands how assigned products work by using training resources and by installing and using test versions of the product to understand the product from a customer perspective. May guide others when required.

  • Understands technologies, platforms, and operating systems associated with assigned products from a customer perspective. May guide others when necessary.

  • 4+ or more years professional experience (software industry preferred) with demonstrated technical writing ability.
